Jo Weaver founded her marketing and PR agency, JWA Prague, in 1991. It soon became one of the leading agencies in the country, focusing on real estate, hospitality, retail and sport, and for the past thirty years the JWA team has worked for many of the Czech Republic’s biggest companies and investors. Since 2010, in addition to running JWA, Jo has worked as a sports manager and agent, looking after many world-famous sports people as well as being involved in several high-profile sports events and venues, including the Velka Pardubicka horse race, the SkiPark Chuchle, and Prague International Marathon.
Jo was also Chairman of the British Chamber of Commerce in the Czech Republic from the beginning of 2004 until October 2007, before helping to found the International Business Forum, a business association that she is still involved in as a board member. She was voted one of the top five foreign businesswomen in the Czech Republic in 2001, and nominated for the ‘Women of the Year’ awards in the category of ‘marketing and communications’ in 2005 and 2006. She was also a judge for the ‘Women of the Year’ competition in 2007 and 2008, and is a frequent speaker at seminars and conferences on business, marketing, and public relations in Central Europe.
Jo has split her time between Prague and Marbella in Spain for the past fifteen years, and has been involved in the buying and selling of several high quality properties in both countries, either for herself or on behalf of clients. Her enormous contact base, combined with her exceptional organisational and ‘people’ skills, has ensured that she has quickly become popular amongst clients looking for a very safe pair of hands to find and then carry out their property purchase.
Jan Grozdanovic was born in Czechoslovakia, where he studied law at Prague’s famous Charles University before defecting to the United Kingdom in 1980. From 1981-1985 he attended the London School of Economics, taking articles at Gregory, Rowcliffe & Co., and in 1988 he qualified as an English Solicitor. He spent one year at the City of London firm Berwin Leighton, six years at the London offices of the international firms of Baker & McKenzie and Allen & Overy, and, finally, 11 years at Seddons Solicitors, the last two as Managing Partner of their Prague Office, before opening his own firm, JGA Legal, in 2006.
Jan was admitted to practise law in the Czech Republic as an advocate in 1995 and is presently one of only a few dual-qualified English and Czech solicitors in the world, as well as being an arbitrator registered at the Arbitration Court attached to the Economic and Agricultural Chambers of the CR. He was a founding member of the Association for Foreign Investment in the Czech Republic (of which he is now an Honorary Member), is Chairman of the British Czech and Slovak Law Association of the United Kingdom, and was a member of the Board of the British Chamber of Commerce from 1997-2000, and again from 2003 until 2006. He is a founding member of the International Business Forum and is a member of the board He is also a frequent public speaker on legal aspects of doing business in the Czech Republic. Jan is a keen runner and has completed 16 marathons (including the Classic from Marathon to Athens) and 12 half marathons.
Jan bases himself between Prague and Marbella, also spending some of his time in the UK, depending on the needs of his clients. He has acted for many Czechs and Slovaks based in Marbella, and has a close working relationship with several leading local law firms, ensuring that whilst he provides clients with detailed support on the ground, he can call on a number of different Spanish legal experts as and when required.
